"The Parrots"
- MT RAMORNIE AVIARIES -

BREEDER'S PROFILE

The first parrot Barbara owned - at the age of 7 - (pictured left) was a Nanday Conure cock named "Coco". She owned and bred Budgies, Cockatiels, Canaries, Parotlets, Blue Headed Pionus and Finches. Sadly, in 1994 Barbara  had to leave her beloved birds behind due to the move from Germany to Australia. In the leafy suburb of Harbord, Sydney, the first birds purchased were Canaries, followed by Superb Parrots.
After moving to Ramornie, "Elanora" soon housed some more feathered friends including different species of fowl .

In January 2001 Barbara set up "Mt Ramornie Aviaries". Thank you to Noddy & Neville of Casuarine Parrot Gardens for your help and incentive to go back to breeding birds. Barbara is a member of the local Northern Rivers Avicultural Society, as well as the Parrot Society of Australia.

September 2010

I am back into it and am keeping a few more parrots and finches; after having to drastically reduce numbers due to previous health reasons.

MT RAMORNIE AVIARIES currently keeps the following birds:

+ our Pet: "T-Man"  (Green-Cheeked Conure cock)

since T-Man decided to chew through all the electrical cables in the house, I decided to put him out in the aviary before he gets electrocuted. He has now a girlfriend, a red sided Green-Cheek hen and they are happily breeding :-)

over the year Mt Ramornie Aviaries has kept and bred other species of parrots like:

Jenday Conures, Eclectus Parrots, Plum-Headed Parrots, Sun Conures, Scarlet Chested Parrots, Budgerigars, Superb Parrots, Cockatiels

and other birds like:

Muscovy Ducks, Gourmet Quails, Zebra Finches, Geese, Belgium Bantams, Japanese Quails, Silky Bantams

.... and a pet plover called "Mikey" - who disappeared after he was reared and with us for 9 months.
